With The Thief, Gergana Velinova steps boldly into her voice as a composer, presenting a vibrant collection of contemporary jazz songs born from her original poetry. Blending witty, whimsical writing with complex rhythms, creative vocal arrangements, sensual bossa novas, and lyrical ballads, the album showcases both playfulness and depth.

Recorded in a single day with an all-star New York ensemble, it captures a raw, spontaneous energy. The album also features a 7/8 Bulgarian folk-inspired arrangement with members of the Victoria Symphony, and a heartfelt Portuguese tribute to Elis Regina. Produced by Misha Piatigorsky.
